Module 1. Introduction to sewing & how to use a sewing machine
You’ll learn the basics of what to look for when buying a sewing machine, how to thread your machine and how to sew a row of plain & zig-zag stitching.
Module 1A. Sewing equipment
To save you wasting any money on unnecessary equipment, I’ll show you what basic items you need and explain what to look for when buying your own pieces. This will save you a lot of time and money.
Module 2. Terms & definitions
You’ll understand the difference between a hem and a seam, what the ‘ direction of the fabric
’ means and so much more. If all of the sewing terms are gobbly-goop to you at the moment, this module will explain some of the basic terms that you’ll need as a beginner.
Module 3. Fabric
There are soooo many different fabrics to choose from that it can be overwhelming. This module explains the difference between knitted and woven fabrics and what to look for when choosing a fabric for each of your sewing projects. There are plenty of hints and tips to help you choose your perfect fabric.
Module 4. Make a tote bag
This is the first project that you’ll make; a simple tote bag. You’ll have a pattern available to download as well which has full written instructions and a paper template to use to cut the pieces out. The video breaks every single step down and makes it really simple to follow, making your first project a success and increasing your confidence.
Module 5. Make a lined drawstring bag
Following on from your success with a tote bag, with this project you’ll add a lining and a drawstring channel to a bag. There’s a pdf printable pattern with written instructions and a paper template in 3 sizes so that you can make a set of bags at your leisure. Follow along with the video and you can’t go wrong.
Module 6. Sew a cushion cover
In this video you’ll learn how to take measurements to fit a cushion of any size. It might sound tricky but it’s actually really simple. This method doesn’t use any zips or buttons and only 1 piece of fabric. It’s so simple and you’ll be able to make a cover for any size cushion.
Module 7. Zip Pouch
This project makes zips simple. Sewers can be hesitant to sew zips but I teach you how to add zip tabs and make the process fail-proof. I've taught over 125k people on YouTube how to use this method.
Module 8. Gathered skirt
In this module you will learn how to make an elasticated skirt to fit your exact measurements. You'll learn how to easily create the gathers on your machine, how to add an elasticated waist and how to add a neat hem. The first of the clothes patterns, this is an incredibly easy first pattern to start with.
Module 9. Tie waist detail Trousers
You'll learn how to make these trousers, called the Grace Trousers, in this module. They are so easy to make and they look amazing. They have a wide leg, side pockets and an elasticated waist with a front tie detail. I'll show you how to add all of these details really simply & easily with my fail-proof methods.
